Mandated Changes From
Deffenbaugh
Trash day is Wednesday and managed by Deffenbaugh. Watch
for more details as we will have a
new contact in place beginning in
June. This will include some large
item collection and an appliance
pick up service.
Due to new landfill regulations implemented by Johnson County,
mandated changes to residential
trash service took effect on January
1, 2012.
The new regulations require that
haulers:
1. Provide volume-based or
“pay-as-you-throw” fee service for
household trash
2. Provide container and Unlimited
recycling
3. Compost yard waste
* Yard Waste is the main change for
Bedford Downs – it must be placed in
compostable Kraft (brown) paper
bags. These bags can be purchased at
WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes,
Sutherlands and other places. *
Deffenbaugh’s yard waste program is
March through December with 6 bags
allowed per home March-September and
10 bags per home October thru
December.
Household Trash – limited to what
fits in your cart. Additional
bags/containers will require
purchasing a sticker. Information
regarding stickers can be found on
Deffenbaugh’s website.
* Recycling – unlimited. If it
doesn’t fit in your cart simply put
in another container and label
“recycling”. A list of recyclable
materials is available on
Deffenbaugh’s website.
