Social - Planning occasional events
Landscaping - Off for the winter, but active planting flowers in the spring.
Public relations - Assist in any public relations activity
Pool - Advise and guide pool maintenance and operations
General - Provide occasional support as needed to any committee
Without your help, our HOA wouldn't exist. Volunteer today! |

Semi-annual Garage Sale
The HOA organizes two garage sale weekends (Thursday, Friday and
Saturday) every year, one in the spring and again in the
fall. The social committee will notify residents of the upcoming date through signs posted at the entrances and online at this Web site. The HOA also pays for advertising the local newspaper and on the weekend, hangs entrance banners for visitors.
- You don't need to contact anyone if you want to participate.
- Post your yard signs in front of your house and at the nearest corner (with that homeowner's permission). Please remember to pick up signs when your sale is over. Especially the signs you've posted in someone else's yard - don't make your neighbors clean up after you.
- You decide when to open and close your sale. Be ready for early birds. Most sales start around 8 a.m.
- You can have your sale on either one or both days; it's up to you.
- If you don't have much, get together with a neighbor to double your merchandise-attraction power Plus you can tag-team the sale, giving each other a break.

Garbage and Recycle Pick Up Every Wednesday
Trash day will be Wednesday beginning May 2nd 2011.
We received a notice from Deffenbaugh that the subdivision trash day will be changed to Wednesday effective the week of May 2nd.The Bedford Downs HOA office sent an email to homeowners in April as notification of the change.
Deffenbaugh Industries picks up refuse and paper recyclables every Wednesday. Garbage should be left on the curbside by 7 a.m. that morning.
Large item collection (mattresses,
furniture) will be the Wednesday of the third full week each month at No Charge.
Large item pick-up dates for 2012: June 20th; July 18th; Aug
15th; Sept 19th; Oct 17th; Nov 21st; Dec 19th.
Appliance pick up is a NEW Service. Call 48 hours ahead of when you
want it picked up and they will collect for a $20 service fee billed
directly to the collection address.
Select holidays are observed by Deffenbaugh. If your normal pick-up day falls on a holiday, service will resume the following day. Place your garbage outside accordingly.
For questions about waste pick-up or what and how to properly bag refuse and recycled materials, contact Deffenbaugh at (913-631-3300) or visit their Web site. You should have a green recycle bin; if you do not, contact Deffenbaugh.
The HOA collects garbage and recycle fees from residents and pays Deffenbaugh for these services. When your fee comes due, prompt payment is appreciated; the HOA has to pay for everyone regardless of whether or not it has collected fees from everyone. |

Board Meetings 6:30 p.m., third Monday monthly Annual resident-wide held in January
A community-wide HOA meeting is held annually in January, usually at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School. All residents are encouraged to attend. Important issues affecting your homeownership are discussed and voted on; board members are elected; financial documents are distributed; and, prior to any of this happening, a quorum must be established for the meeting to be held. If you cannot attend, send in a signed proxy so HOA business can be handled in your absence.
Monthly board meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday at Barnds Brothers' office (10000 W. 135th St.) HOA residents are welcome to attend; however please confirm the meeting date as occasionally meetings are rescheduled.
For information about either the annual or monthly meeting, contact Lisa at Barnds Brothers (897-2340). |

Resident Directory
The HOA annually compiles, prints and distributes a resident directory annually. This is a free service. Publication of phone numbers and e-mail addresses is strictly voluntary. While every effort for accuracy is made, mistakes happen. Corrections may be submitted online during the annual update, or e-mail us for corrections or to receive a directory. |
| |
Holiday Lights
Seasonal holiday lights and decorations may be in place from November 15 to January 15.
Entrance gates are often decorated during the holiday season, depending on volunteer availability. If you would like to help, e-mail us. |

HOA Dues Annual collection
Resident dues are collected annually in January and February. The collected dues fund maintenance and operational expenses for the common grounds, which includes mowing, fertilizing, trimming, replacing trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.; the swimming pools and facility maintenance, operation and security; monthly utility expenses and business management fees, as well as any other expenses related to HOA business and property management.
Annually garbage collection fees are also collected. This fee pays for garbage and recycling collection service throughout the Bedford Downs, Foxfield and Foxfield Estate community.
